Dental Crowns
Crowns and bridges are two popular options for restoring damaged or missing teeth, and they can provide patients with a functional and aesthetically pleasing smile. A dental crown is custom-made and covers the entire surface of a damaged tooth. Crowns are typically recommended for teeth that are severely decayed, cracked, or have undergone a root canal. They can also be used to cover a tooth that is discolored or misshapen.
Getting a crown typically involves two appointments at our office. During your first visit, Dr. Denney will prepare your tooth by removing any decay or damage and shaping it to fit the crown. He will then take impressions of your teeth, which will be sent to a dental lab where your custom, tooth-colored crown will be made. In the meantime, you will be fitted with a temporary crown to protect your tooth.
At your second appointment, Dr. Denney will remove the temporary crown and place your custom crown over your tooth. He will check to make sure it fits properly and make any necessary adjustments. Once the crown is in place, he will bond it to your tooth using a special dental cement.
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is another option for restoring missing teeth. A bridge consists of one or more artificial teeth that are anchored in place using dental crowns on the adjacent teeth. Bridges are typically recommended for patients who are missing one or more teeth but are not candidates for dental implants.
Getting a bridge typically requires two appointments at our office. During your first visit, Dr. Denney will prepare the adjacent teeth by removing a small amount of enamel to make room for the crowns. He will then take impressions of your teeth, which will be sent to a dental lab where your custom bridge will be made. In the meantime, you will be fitted with a temporary bridge to protect your teeth.
At your second appointment, Dr. Denney will remove the temporary bridge and place your custom bridge over your teeth. He will check to make sure it fits properly and make any necessary adjustments. Once the bridge is in place, he will bond it to your teeth using a special dental cement.
